Lets make 2023 a year to remember!

Our long established NYD'23 swim (11 years and counting!) is a perfect traditional cold water dip for aqualovers daring to be different. Located in Dock 9, MediaCityUK, the uber-friendly crowd and iconic Lowry Theatre backdrop guarantees top pics and crazy fun. Celebrate the start of a new year with family, friends and fellow cold water lovers! The invigorating water temperature will be 7c!


Late Entry* £20.00 (16+yrs)

*Please note that there are no swim caps included in the late entry price. If there swim caps available due to non attendance of other swimmers there will be an additional cost of £5 (cash)


Swim Courses; There'll be a 250m towfloat-compulsory course for competent swimmers who are then able to swim for as long as they safely want.

There is also a 100m non-towfloat course for swimmers who still want the buzz of a deliciously cold open water swim. Towfloats are still recommended though :) 


Swim Timings; There will be TWO 'waves' of swimmers entering the water at 30 minute intervals based upon surnames.

Registration; 10.15-11.15am. 

'Wave' Swim Times (based on surnames)*

1) A-H; 11.00am

2) I-Z; 11.30am

All swimmers to have left the water by 12pm.

*If attending with friends/family with different surnames its 100% cool if you simply swim together. No need to email regarding this, just turn up and let us know on the day.


Parking; Quayside (formerly the Lowry Outlet Mall) next to venue. See link for parking charges

Facilities; There will be changing tents/ shower available in addition to a covered area to store shoes/keys at the swim assembly area on the bund. 


Towfloats Compulsory on 250m course (for safety). For 'dippers' close to Dockside they are not required


Complimentary hot drinks - will be available on the day for swimmers.


Wetsuit Hire (all sizes); Available on day. No need to prebook. £10 CASH + £20 CASH deposit 


Best dressed hat Competition; Get creative and flaunt your most outrageous hats. In 2022 lovely Lou triumphed with her cake creation :).


Be Safe; Juniors (7-15yrs) MUST have an adult (16+) in the water with them. Towfloats are highly recommended although not compulsory except on 250m course.


Public Toilets; Will be available in Quayside (formerly the Lowry Outlet Mall) from 10.00am.

BubbleBecca Pugs are a pug rescue and sanctuary based in the UK. We rescue pugs from both home and abroad providing them with endless love and hugs, the best veterinary care, the tastiest food, an awesome puggy playground garden and a cosy warm fire to snooze in front of.


Burnley Foodbank Collection (Tins & Dry Food)

An amazing Uswim member - Laurence M - will be collecting tins and dry food at our swim so please bring anything you have spare :)

Laurence runs the Budding Burnley Community Gardening Group and grows a variety of vegetables which are donated to Burnley food banks and a community grocer. Any donations of much needed tins/dry food would make a difference to the lives of people less fortunate than ourselves.
