Get the 2027 Season started! Big time!

The BPT & Aquabike is a standard distance tester that offers individuals or relay teams of two-three people the chance to race through charming Cheshire on fast, flat courses. It involves a delicious open water lake swim, a fast 55km draft-legal bike and 10km canter around Cheshire lanes. Half that for sprinters.

Distances:

Swim (OW): Standard 1km (2 laps), Sprint 500m (1 lap)

Bike: Standard 54km (2 laps), Sprint 27km (1 lap)

Run: Standard 10km (2 laps), Sprint 5km (1 lap) - The course is held mainly on (quiet) public roads with few paths.

Aquabike: Swim 1km, Bike 55km (as above)

Event Timings:

7.30-8.30am: Registration (Allostock Village Hall, WA16 9LQ) & Transition Open (at Boundary Water Park)

8.50: Briefing for all competitors (Lakeside)

9.00: Swim Start - ALL COMPETITORS (Tri, Aquabike, Relays)

Presentations (asap after finishing)

Registration / Car Parking: Located at Allostock Village Hall (WA16 9LQ) a half-mile from the Boundary venue. If easier, competitors can drop kit boxes / bags off at Boundary Water Park then drive to parking at Village Hall before walking back to the race start at 9am. No parking is permitted on the main roads close to the venue.

Swim Caps (to reduce waste please bring your own brightly coloured caps)

Race numbers: Will be provided at registration on the day. Race belts are permitted. Race numbers are also provided at registration.

Use of headphones for all Competitors: These are banned for safety and self-reliance reasons: Swimmers need to be aware of other participants and potential hazards, and cyclists need to hear approaching cars or fellow competitors. Self-Reliance: Our event emphasizes self-reliance and pushing personal limits. Relying on external stimuli like music can be seen as counter to this principle.

The Swim:

The water is expected to be 16c so wetsuits will be optional. If you need more insulation in the water then wear gloves / socks / two caps. It's up to you.

Kit Info:

Ensure that you've got all the necessary clothing, refreshments and nutrition to last for the duration of the event which can take anything from 2.5-4.5 hours to complete. A tried and tested bike, wetsuit and goggles will help considerably.

Bikes:

Standard road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids are welcome. No Time Trial bikes are permitted.

Our event is 'draft-legal' but, for safety reasons, especially since the event is taking place on public roads, we will be referencing British Triathlon rules relating to draft-legal racing.

Handlebars (straight/dropped) are permitted but must be plugged;
No aero-bars permitted
Clip-ons, including the bridge, must not exceed the foremost line of the brake levers.
Water bottles / holders may not be mounted onto the handlebars or clip-on

Bike Lights (front and back) are recommended for safety although they are not mandatory.
