For the last nine years this muscular little endurance swim has attracted swimmers from around the UK to swim continuously until they complete 36km or for one mile every hour for 12 hours. Intrepid soloists and relay teams of between 2-6 swimmers join up for the challenge of swimming the 36km English Channel distance (21 miles) in a beautiful, safe English lake.


For potential English Channel swimmers its an event that provides a clear idea on the time it will take to swim the English Channel proper.   


Relay swimmers are required to complete equal distances and swim in a designated team order and soloists just plough on around the course fed and nourished by their dedicated land support. 


Distance: 36km (21miles) - The length of the English Channel


Ages: 15yrs+ competent swimmers are welcome


Cost: Solo; £300.00, Relay; £360.00 (up to six swimmers)

 

Timings: Parking / Registration: From 6:30pm. Swim Start (all): 8.00pm

Relay Teams

Prior to the start relays select either the 1.5km or 3km distance that each swimmer then needs to swim throughout the event. If a swimmer drops out for any reason the team can still continue until the 36km distance is completed but the team won't be officially placed. 


Parking: Free at venue on lake access road.


'Crew/Swimmers Rest' Area: Tents / camper vans are not permitted for participants or land support. There will, however, be a tented, sheltered area provided where crew can place a comfortable camping chair to use as a resting place for the duration of the event.


Facilities: Changing. Rinse shower. Hot water (for your own refreshments)


Water Safety is provided for the duration of the event so there's no need to source your own. Solo swimmers, however, are required to have land support and a safety tow-float attached at all times. Relay Team swimmers are only required to have an illuminated safety tow-float in the dark.
