The BPT & Aquabike is a standard distance tester that offers individuals or relay teams of two-three people the chance to race through charming Cheshire on fast, flat courses. It involves a cool open water swim in a lake, a fast 57km draft-legal bike and 10km canter around the local lanes.
Distances:
Swim (OW); 700m
Run; 10km (2 laps) - The course is held mainly on (quiet) public roads with few paths.
Aquabike: Swim 700m, Bike 55km
Duathlon: Run One - 5km, Bike 55km, Run Two - 2.5km
Event Timings:
7.30-8.30am: Registration (at Allostock Village Hall - WA16 9LQ) & Transition Open (at Boundary Water Park)
8.50am: Briefing for all competitors (Lakeside)
9.00: Swim Start - ALL COMPETITORS (Tri, Aquabike, Relays)
Presentations (asap after finishing)
9.10: Duathlon Start
Registration / Car Parking:
This is located at Allostock Village Hall (WA16 9LQ) a half-mile from the Boundary venue. If easier, competitors can drop kit boxes / bags off at Boundary Water Park then drive to parking at Village Hall before walking back to the race start at 9am. No parking is permitted on the main roads close to the venue.
Swim Caps / Race numbers:
To minimise environmental impact competitors are being encouraged to use their own (brightly-coloured) swim caps. If needed caps will be provided at registration on the day. Race belts are permitted. Race numbers are provided at registration.
Wetsuits Compulsory:
The water expected to be approximately 12c so wetsuits will be compulsory.
Competitor Info:
Ensure that you've got all the necessary clothing, refreshments and nutrition to last for the duration of the event which can take anything from 2.5-4.5 hours to complete. A tried and tested bike, wetsuit and goggles will help considerably.
There no motorbike referees out on the bike course so carry a mobile phone is you feel you need the reassurance of being able to contact race organisers whilst out on the course (07871 268 289 Dave Q).
Bikes:
Standard road bikes, mountain bikes, hybrids are welcome.
Our event is 'draft-legal' but, for safety reasons, especially since the event is taking place on public roads, we will be referencing British Triathlon rules relating to draft-legal racing which this is.
