Our 'Intros To Cold Water Swims/Dips' are for aspiring cold water swimmers wanting to get the best (and safest) start to their outdoor swimming journeys.

For the last decade Uswim we've organised 'INTRO'S' to build up open water swimmers knowledge and confidence to dip and swim in cold water.


The intro's are a mixture of land and water tuition covering topics such as essential safety, correct kit, pre/post swim preparation, breathing techniques, proven health benefits and swim tips from knowledgeable coaches that have embraced cold water swimming and all it has to give. The intro will empower you to enjoy cold water swimming.


Cost: £50.00*

*Includes silicone swim cap, Uswim goody, earplugs, FREE wetsuit use as required and expert tuition.

*Note that there are no transfers or refunds available once the intro's are booked.

The Do's...


  • Acclimatise gradually. Enter the water slowly trying to stay relaxed. Allow your breathing to regulate before setting off.
  • Wear earplugs which prevent cold water entering your ear canal causing dizziness / nausea.
  • Have lots of layers ready for when you get out in the order you will be putting them back on.


The Don't....


  • Dip or swim if you are feeling unwell or have been drinking lots of alcohol the night before or are suffering from any respiratory illness.
  • Forget your inhaler if you have asthma.
