Start 2018 off in a totally cool way by leaping into the invigorating, glacier-like waters of Salford Quays. Swimmers can do a swift 150m lap of the Uswim iceberg course or stay in as long as they feel comfortable in water temps of approximately 5degrees C!
Commemorative swim caps, medals provided on the day.
Funky Hat Competition. Look the part! Wear your funkiest, funniest, original creations. Prize for the best dressed.
Due to the expected numbers we're organising swimmers into three 'waves' 10 minutes apart with the first wave leaping in at 11.00am. Be there to register from 9.30-10.30am where all will become clear. The first and second waves will comprise of experienced cold water swimmers with newbies and the ever-so-slightly-nervous dippers in the third wave so we can keep an extra careful watch of y'all.
USWIM FOR GRACE'S PLACE CHILDREN'S HOSPICE...
All swim entry fees will be going to the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice – Grace’s Place* By swimming on the day you'll be putting smiles on lots of faces (including your own!)
*All children are precious, but some need a little more care and attention than others. More than 650 children are living with life-shortening conditions in North Manchester. As a result, thousands of mums, dads and siblings are also living with those conditions, and the consequences are usually both overwhelming and exhausting.
They all urgently need the support of a specialist children’s hospice. Unfortunately, the vast majority of them haven’t been able to access that support. Until now.
We are Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice, and we’re opening Grace’s Place in Radcliffe
– a fantastic children’s hospice helping families across North Manchester.
Reduce hunger, kindly donate food...
The Farnworth and Kearsley foodbank relies on donations to feed people in crisis. From pasta to puddings, please give in-date non-perishable food. See the ''URGENTLY NEEDED FOOD ITEMS' on their webpage to give you an idea of what to bring. At the swim the foodbank will be in attendance to collect your donated food.
