UTRI are excited to promote our second Standard Distance triathlon to be held at the lovely Boundary Water Park, Holmes Chapel, on Sunday 23rd April 2017.  The home of Uswim.

As a great early Season tester UTRI's 'Boundary Park Tri' offers individuals or relay teams of two/three the chance to race over distances of 1km (open water swim), 58km (fast, flat bike) with a brisk 10km run putting icing on the cake. You have to be 16+ to enter with a discounted entry price for Under 18's. It'll be a blast!

We're keeping it small but perfectly formed by limiting the entry to a maximum of 100 participants so if you fancy joining in the fun get entering before it sells out! Medals, goody bags, free post race massages are all on offer.

Race Information / Info will be located at Boundary Water Park. It will be open from 7:30–8:30am. This is your first port of call. You will not be able to enter transition without your race numbers (provided at registration).

We recommend you arrive by 8:00am at the latest to give you enough time to register, set up all your equipment in transition, get changed, make any other preparations and be on lakeside by 8:45am for the official race briefing.

Race Numbers will be allocated on the day. Arrive in good time to be able to collect your numbers from Race Registration before you start. Race numbers must be worn on the bike (on back) and run (on front). Race belts are permitted. Please shout out your number at timing points if requested.

Transition is located next to registration on the grassed car park at the Water Park.

The transition entrances / exits will be clearly signed. Please make sure you know where your space is in transition and which way you will be going through transition. You must re-rack your bike in its allotted place before starting the run.

Marshals will restrict access to competitors with race numbers only and to bikes with a race number only. You will not be allowed to take your bike out of transition unless you show your race number, matching with the bike number. These rules are for the safety of your equipment and other competitors. They will be strictly enforced – please don’t give our marshals a hard time!

You must have racked your bike and vacated the transition area by 8:45am ready for briefing.

The Swim - 1km

WETSUITS will be compulsory due to the expected water temp of 12c degrees.

Event swim caps (silicone, thick, warm) will be provided at registration and must be worn by all competitors.

The swim start will be a ‘deep’ water start in three 'waves'. Access to the water is via a path next to transition. The swim course will be two anti-clockwise 500m laps.

A safety boat and kayaks will be on hand to provide safety support throughout the swim. During the swim if you are in difficulty raise a hand to attract their attention and they will come to your aid and escort you to the side of the lake.

The Bike - 55km (2 anti-clockwise laps of 27km course)

This will be DRAFT LEGAL. Although our event is not British Triathlon Federation sanctioned we will be following their competition rules as guidelines. These rules can be found at  Be aware that it is a 38 page document so no need to print it out in its entirety. Save the rainforests!

Handlebars; Only traditional drop handlebars with no forward-facing bars are permitted. For more information see BTF competition rulebook, 5.2.d.ii

The course starts and finishes at transition. Competitors will not be allowed to start without a regulation helmet. During the race do not put on or take off your helmet unless your bike is on the racking. Drafting is permitted. You must walk your bike between transition and the mount / dismount line.

You’ll be cycling two clockwise laps of the bike course. Starting in transition, you’ll follow public roads to Holmes Chapel etc. The course will be clearly marked out with sign posts and Marshals strategically placed to ensure you follow the correct route.

Please take extreme care when taking right turns out / into the Water Park.

Marshals may request your numbers (if obscured by mud, sweat or tears) so please shout out loud and clear if asked. It is, however, your own responsibility to do the correct number of laps.

On the course you must keep left unless overtaking and, at transition, mount / dismount at the indicated place.

You will be riding on public roads so please respect the highway code, show consideration to other road users and ride safely!

The Run - 10km (2 anti-clockwise laps of 5km course)

You’ll be running two laps of the run course on public roads / footpaths giving way to any traffic on the course.

Please keep to the left at all times unless overtaking and ensure your race number is clearly visible from the front during the run, and particularly as you finish.

First aid is available on site and staff will be able to attend to any casualties that may occur out on the course.
